Welcome to the Website of Largs Amateur Operatic Society!

The Largs Amateur Operatic Society was formed in 1946 by a number of local people headed by Joe Oakley who was the gentleman who wielded the baton as the first Musical Director of the Society with Duncan McCallum as the Producer.

Our first production was A Country Girl which was staged at Barrfields Pavilion for two nights in the spring of 1947.  This proved to be a great success and over the years the Society has gone from strength to strength producing operettas, musical comedies and also Gilbert and Sullivan.

Recent shows include Oliver!, Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady, Pirates of Penzance, The Wizard of Oz, The King and I and Hello, Dolly!

A society like this has so much fun to offer for anyone who loves melodic music and over the  years many generations of the same families have been involved.  Mums, Dads, teenagers, children - on stage, behind the scenes, working at front of house, administration or even just being patrons or showing an interest in the Society.

We thank all our members, supporters, old and young, past and present over sixty years.
